Finca El Rincon farm is one of six farms the Vides family runs. The quality of the coffee produced here has kept us coming back year after year for these past six years.
The family patriarch and founder Jorge Vides passed away in 1995, leaving his daughter María Elena and her son Renardo Ovalle to oversee the production and overall running of the farms.
In 2002 they submitted their coffee to the prestigious Cup of Excellence the first year it was run in Guatemala, taking home second place. Realising they could produce super specialty micro-lots, the farms underwent a radical transition concentrating on quality, sustainability, and productivity. Careful pruning and management of the coffee trees continued on — with individual varieties at each farm kept separate and cupped individually. Their new approach was reinforced with direct relationships cultivated with roasters and coffee buyers.
