Cold Brew Recipes... with a twist!

Summer is in the air and with summer comes cold brew. Switching out the hot coffee in the morning for a Cold Brew as our daily caffeine fix is becoming the norm. Mixing it up with Cold Brew Concentrate with milk or our Cold Brew Pure Black for a perfect Black Iced Drink. There are many ways to enjoy this convenient drink. We reached out to the team at SO espresso to let us know how they've been enjoying their Cold Brew. See below some of the easy and delicious recipes for you to try at home. Check out our Cold Brew and you too can be enjoying one of the below.

Espresso Martini:

This Espresso Martini recipe has been tried and tested many times now at home by Brittany to find the best recipe - thanks Brit! It’s very easy with only a few ingredients and we absolutely love using our Cold Brew to make it. Brit has found that by using Cold Brew there is little to no acidity, as no heat has been applied to it, and so the flavour is smooth and creamy. Generally, in most bars your martini will have a warm espresso shot to make, which we have found creates a lot of acidity in the drink. Our Espresso Martinis are on the sweeter side and go down so smoothly. Lockdown is the perfect time to learn new skills and why not impress all your friends with your new bartending skills.

Ingredients

  • Cocktail shaker (with strainer)
  • Martini Glass
  • Coffee Beans (to garnish)

Method:

  1. Place martini glass into freezer for about 30 minutes to ensure it is nice and cold.
  2. Place Kahlua, Vodka and Cold Brew into Cocktail Shaker with a few pieces of ice.
  3. Shake for about 30 seconds.
  4. Strain the Espresso Martini mixture (making sure you don’t have ice in your martini) into your martini glass.
  5. This is totally optional but if you’re going for the at home bar experience, we place a couple of coffee beans on top!
  6. Time to enjoy and drink responsibly!

Frappes

Sam's go to for Cold Brew is a Frappe. She has worked out there are two variations you can turn to depending on if you like your Cold Brew with or without milk! Sam has perfected this recipe and it really does have a lot of variations depending on personal taste. You can definitely add a syrup, sauce or whipped cream if you want a sweeter frappe - indulge and get creative (don't forget to tag us @so_espresso). Sam's two frappe recipes below showcase the delicious Cold Brew as an icy treat.

Cold Brew Float

Danni has shared with us her Cold Brew lockdown treat – turning a traditional kid’s soft drink spider into an adult only drink.  We love this recipe as its super easy and a quick twist on our Cold Brew, making it a lovely afternoon dessert. For this one we recommend using our Cold Brew Concentrate with your choice of milk, plus a generous serve of cookies and cream connoisseur ice cream for a very luxe afternoon treat!

Ingredients:

  • 90mL x Cold Brew Concentrate
  • 200mL x Milk (plant based or dairy)
  • 1 scoop of Vanilla ice cream (you can use other flavours depending on personal preference)
  • Drizzle of Syrup or Sauces (optional)

Method:

  1. Place glass in freezer for about 30 minutes (optional but it will keep the drink colder for longer!)
  2. Fill glass with Cold Brew Concentrate and Milk
  3. Add a scoop of ice-cream to the top with any sauce or syrup toppings of your choice.
  4. Time to dig in!
